Two Handhufushi Resort employees arrested on charges of drug dealing

Two employees from Handhufushi Resort and Spa have been arrested on charges of drug possession and dealing.

The two individuals were arrested while in possession of a large amount of drugs, Police said. The two are Ahmed Asif, 27, of Paris Villa in Seenu atoll Feydhoo and Abdulla Hamdhoon, 20, of Karankaa Vaadhee in Seenu atoll Meedhoo.

The In-Charge of the Addu Police Station Staff Sergeant Ismail Shameem Adam said yesterday that Ahmed Asif, who worked as an AC Mechanic at the Yacht Tours resort, was arrested last Sunday. 11 packets containing drugs had been found on him when he was taken to the Hulhumeedhoo Police Station and searched.

Hamdhoon, who worked as a waiter at the resort, was arrested on Monday after Police received reports that he was dealing drugs. Upon searching him Police found 11 packets of drugs in his possession.

“We found two packets inside his uniform pockets,” Shameem said. “Four packets were found inside the slippers he was wearing and five other packets were found inside his room.”

The Addu Police Station was investigating the cases, Shameem said.
